The Dos and Don't of Brown/Black Skin Care
Here are a couple of rules you should follow if you want flawless skin.
1. Wear Sunscreen
According to skin cancer expert Paul Banwell, people with dark skin are more likely to die from skin cancer than those with fair complexions as the conditions may be more seirous and be detected too late.
While our skin contains melanin, which has natural SPF 15 , it is still possible for us to get sun burnt and develop skin cancer as we need at least to have a coverage of SPF 30 to cut down the damage caused by UV rays.
2. Sleep and eat well!
This may seem like an obvious one, but your skin is a reflection of your lifestyle.
- Make sure to get that beauty sleep but also treat your body like a temple and have healthy meals! Your skin will thank with the glow!
- Eat fruits , green and enough proteins and vitamins. Add vitamin C but make sure to limit sugar in your diet to get glowing skin! Make sure you get your 8 cups of water each day.
- Exercise! The post workout glow is real. When you exercise, you cut out the stress which can be responsible for acne outbreaks!
3. Stop picking your acne!
Do not pick your acne. As we all know, our skin is more likely to have dark spots/hyperpigmentation. While there are safe ways to pop a pimple, your best bet is to either wait it out or dry it out with a home-made remedy.
4. Remove your make-up before going to bed.
This is an obvious one but a lot of people still have that bad habit. One quick tip @@if you're too lazy to get up from your bed, leave face wipes by your bedside.@@
While this won't remove all trace of make up from your skin, it is better than nothing!

When you exfoliate, you remove the dry and dead skin cells. It allows you to have softer, glowing skin AND prevents ingrown hair. It is also a great way to revive dry skin, especially in the winter.
